Ednovate Background

Ednovate launched its first school, USC Hybrid High, a personalized learning high school, in 2012.  Since then, Ednovate has grown to five schools and is on a trajectory to continue to grow over the next several years. Ednovate is committed to serving in areas where students traditionally lack access to a quality college prep education by building tuition-free, safe, and high-performing public schools to serve neighborhoods that need it the most. Ednovate is currently planning for our next growth phase as we continue to fulfill our mission to make a positive multigenerational change within the communities we serve and in our profession.  

Position Description

We are seeking a Manager of Family and Community Engagement who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting school-based family and community engagement initiatives across our network of schools. This individual will report to the Director of Family Engagement and Strategy and work closely with our school site leaders to collaborate using their independent judgment and discretion to determine which community engagement initiatives should be developed and how they should be implemented. This role collaborates across several Ednovate efforts including school-based community partnerships, parent leadership and advocacy, and student outreach and enrollment.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Family Engagement and Leadership Development

  • Support family leadership, advocacy, and engagement, including parent education, organizing, and other forms of engagement and support for their students and communities
  • Develop consistent and effective communication on a range of issues
  • Build and implement systems to track family engagement data for each school site
  • Plan and execute regular family events, such as open houses, small gatherings at homes of neighborhood families, and speaking engagements with community groups in collaboration with school leaders

Community Engagement

  • Develop and support partnerships with parents, neighbors, community agencies, and various community groups to inspire and motivate families to join the Ednovate community
  • In collaboration with the Director, hold strong relationships with elected officials, community leaders, faith leaders, parent leaders, and community organizations in support of students, schools and communities
  • Attend community events and informational fairs to inform eligible families and promote Ednovate

Advocacy Strategy

  • Support the development of strategies at the local (city, county and school board) level to support Ednovate's long-term vision for advocacy and community engagement
  • Ensure greater participation and engagement in advocacy in our communities by investing in the civic education of our team and families
  • Monitor relevant legislation that potentially impacts our schools, families, and communities and work with team to plan Ednovate's strategic response

Student Recruitment

  • Develop and execute student recruitment strategies alongside school leaders that will recruit students and families for new and growing schools
  • Create and distribute communication and marketing materials including flyers and presentations to relevant stakeholders
  • Support efforts to gather parent signatures for charter petitions and Proposition 39 proposals, as well as other community advocacy efforts
  • Facilitate parent involvement in recruiting activities
  • Communicate with families to answer any questions throughout regarding the lottery and enrollment process

Recruitment System Support

  • Manage School Mint, our student enrollment lottery system, including set up, updates, and improvements
  • Support with the tracking and reporting of data from School Mint
  • Input and organize data gathered from canvassing, outreach, and phone-banking activities
  • Work directly with parents in both English and Spanish (as required) to assist in completing a paper or online application process

  • Spanish/English bilingual fluency required
  • Outstanding skills in: relationship building, oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, and problem solving
  • Data analysis and effective presentation
  • A proactive self-starter with the ability to multitask, establish and rearrange priorities, and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of constituents
  • Relentless results-orientation
  • Knowledge of public education and charter schools preferred

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive compensation plan will include a bonus incentive and a competitive benefits package.
